We should have a Wonderful Holiday Season!

We should have a Wonderful Holiday Season! As Thanksgiving and Christmas draw near, one of the best parts of spending the various holidays here is that people in Central NC are very caring. I have been witness to many great causes, which you do not see in many larger cities. Some of the current campaigns going on are:

Give a Kid a Coat. If you should have a gently used old child’s coat or if you can afford to donate a new coat, just drop these coats off at a Cleaner World Cleaners and they will clean and mend the coats prior to having them distributed to needy children.

Toys for Tots is another wonderful holiday program designed to make a child’s Christmas great. This is where local Marines and various business team together to insure that many kids get presents this holiday. If we have a wonderful holiday season, shouldn’t we insure those around us do too? This great cause is one way to make sure a child has a wonderful holiday.

Holiday Food Drives of all kinds! Many organizations will offer free holiday concerts and other events all for donations of canned and non-perishable food items. These items are then donated to local organizations; such as, the Food Pantry, Urban Ministries, the Soup Kitchen and the like. It does not cost much and it is a great way to give back. Local grocery stores are also taking up similar collections. What a wonderful idea to help others to enjoy a wonderful holiday meal.

Many businesses and area business associations are collecting personal hygiene products; such as, shampoo, tooth paste, powder, hand sanitizer, hand lotion, etc. These items will either be given out at local Urban Ministry facilities and winter shelters to offer to homeless people.

I could go on and on about all the wonderful things that make the holidays special here in the triad, but I think you get the hint. What way will you make your holiday special this year? We should all have a Wonderful Holiday season, if we can all pitch in and do a little something extra.
